Suspension of Quarterly A&E data return
Initial findings, following the closure of the Fundamental Review of Data Returns consultation, suggest that any user needs for the quarterly A&E publication are outweighed by the data burden on the NHS. Pending the conclusion of the review and the publication of the Department's response to the consultation, this return will be suspended from 1st January 2012. In the event that the Department's final response should conclude that this collection should continue, this return will be re-instated. The Department will continue to publish weekly data on A&E attendances and waiting times.

24/7 consultant-delivered care a ‘must’ for effective NHS, says new report from the RCPCH
Patients would receive far better care if they had access to a senior doctor (consultant) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, says the report Consultant Delivered Care: An evaluation of new ways of working in paediatrics, shows that if consultant delivered care (CDC) models (face-to-face consultant-led care for children up to 24 hours a day requiring acute care) are implemented, it will improve quality of care, ensure good handovers and improve communication with patients and their families. http://www.rcpch.ac.uk/cdc
