New ambulance and ED indicators
A new set of clinical quality indicators for A&E services is to be introduced from April 2011. The indicators cover the quality of care, including outcomes, clinical effectiveness, safety and service experience, as well as timeliness.
The Operating Framework for the NHS in England 2011/12
The 2011/12 Operating Framework requires all parts of the NHS to work across organisational boundaries to respond positively to the reform set out in "Equity and excellence: Liberating the NHS", whilst ensuring that service quality and financial performance are maintained and improved at a time of change.

The College of Emergency Medicine has published a new standard for Consultant “sign off” of selected high risk patients being discharged from the Emergency Department.
RCP survey reveals need for more trained doctors at weekends
A new survey from the Royal College of Physicians of the way care for very ill patients is managed in England, Wales and Northern Ireland recommends that hospitals need to increase the availability of senior doctors in acute admissions units, particularly at weekends.
