Since the publication of the Crown Review of Prescribing, Supply and Administration of Medicines in 1999, many changes have taken place to improve patients’ access to medicines. This briefing aims to summarise some of these aspects.

Pandemic flu: Clinical management of patients with an influenza-like illness during an influenza pandemic
This care guideline, published by British Thoracic Society in January 2007, is intended for use in the UK in the event that the World Health Organisation (WHO) declares that an influenza pandemic has started and the UK Department of Health has declares UK Pandemic Alert Level 2. It contains guidance regarding the treatment on pandemic influenza and covers treatment in both hospitals and the community for adults and children.
